I'm still not happy with the volume- I think it's too low and we should be given more bars on the histogram. I found these settings as good as it gets (unless someone knows more than I do). Hopefully music will either be reduced in volume or muted automatically when instructions are announced. Go to Settings: Maps: Driving&Navigation.Ĭheck "loud volume" and "pause spoken word." I don't know what impact this will have on music, I just tested it with podcasts and it worked for those. I found I needed to increase the volume to maximum. Note that when you begin to tap, while Siri is speaking, a guidance volume histogram appears at the top of the display. This maneuver only controls the volume for Siri, not for music or any other function. While Siri is speaking the first instruction in the driving directions tap on the volume key to increase the volume. Choose a route, any route, but preferably one with a lengthy first instruction to give yourself plenty of time.Ģ. Select CarPlay and then Maps (Apple Maps, not the built-in navigation system). Start the car and plug in your iOS device. But now the radio home button functions again, allowing you to tap home to get to the CRV home menu, and then tap back into a fully functional CarPlay.Click to expand. For dummies like me who took an inordinate amount of time to figure out the logic, let me be very explicit.ġ. The screen will then visually populate with the app you requested, however I've noticed the touchscreen input still doesn't function. So far I generally ask to bring up the app that was open, usually maps or Spotify. My solution is to ask Siri to open an app. I believe unplugging/plugging the phone back in can fix this but it's a pain/dangerous while driving. When the black screen is up, none of the physical home buttons seem to work. I may have an easy fix for some of the crashing issues though that some of you may have been having, occasionally I get a black screen on my radio, it happens more often I've noticed if I was trying to give a Siri voice command while the backup camera/right turn signal camera was taking/leaving focus of the radio. I've been using carplay for about two weeks and just started having navigating issues with Apple Maps. But you can find a few youtube videos/reddit posts out there that show the process and should have download links.Ĭan anyone post a picture of the GPS/Compass antenna connector and the jack on the radio? I'm trying to cobble together a passthrough cable wired through a switch so I can break that connection without taking apart the dash every time. This firmware apparently was a beta release that leaked, therefore it violates the forum rules being non official and all. Of course the clock within Carplay is correct since it pulls that from the phone, but there are times when I don't plug in my iPhone, so it would be nice to have the regular clock work correctly as well.Ĭlick to expand. We're not allowed to post the link for that firmware on this forum. I can only set the time there, not the date or time zone, even though both of those are displayed on some screens. I don't see a way to change either parameter in the regular clock settings. Also, the year is 2012 and it seems to be stuck in the Pacific Time Zone. I can manually change it to the correct time, and after shutting down and restarting, it always goes back to 8:07. I did pop the head unit out to disconnect the grey connector for the antenna before performing the upgrade.Ĭould upgrading to Carplay have anything to do with the build-in clock being messed up? Whenever I start the car, the time shows at 8:07. It went without a hitch and Carplay is working flawlessly. So I promptly added the head unit firmware that supports Carplay. I recently picked up a 2015 EX-L without navigation.
